Hey Rich,

1. There are a few options for supspension lowering
- Weidner Coils are extremly rare and expensiv but they bring the best results
- Manta B and Ascona B Coils fit only on the front and the Rekord is a bit heavier so if you put in 40mm coils it will come down to 60-70mm
- The rear suspension is a problem, the Panhard Bar adjusting the rear axle, so if u put some lowering coils in it, it will move the whole axle to the side. So u need an adjustable Panhard Bar (some people here could help u with that)
- Dampers are easy to get, good and useable Dampers are for example KYB (Kayaba) Gas-A-Just or u look for some red Konis

2. can't help you with this :(

3. If you want to use 5 stud hubs you have to transplant the whole Commodore axles in your Rekord (a few people here did that)

I just translate your questions for more accuracy ;)

ÜBERSETZUNG.

1. Wo finde ich Tieferlegungs Kits (Federn und Dämpfer)

2. Ich passe eine 3 Gang Automatik an einen 67er Buick/Rover V8 Motor an (Irgendwelche Erfahrungen oder Informationen?)

3. Passen die Commodore 5-Loch Naben an meinem 4-Loch Rekord (Will Commodore Felgen umrüsten)

Thanks benny! that was a big help, ive got a new pair of front lowering springs for a manta b and just found a shop over here that sells bilstein rear shocks (pair) for around 80 euro posted! not bad, Lol. but thanks to your link i can find rear springs and front shocks. :D

I cant change the axle because there is none in this country so i'll have to remove the original 4 studs and get a fabricator to copy them into 5 studs wont be cheap but will be easier, Lol.

yeah the opel box to V8 will be a pain but if i can adapt the pressure plate to fit the v8 crank im halfway there, Lol.

Thanks again benny!

Hey Rich,

I would definately not recommend to use the Opel-auto tranny (TH180) in combination with any V8. I blew two stall converters and finally the tranny itself using a lousy 2,4 litre fourbanger including some 45 Weber carbs, before I converted the car (I sold off a couple of years ago) to a five-speed manual Getrag box. The TH180 does not seem to be tough enough to handle higher torque.
In the days Opel was using SBCs in their Diplomats, they also used US-trannies and not the European ones. The good old powerglide did a great job in the model "A" aswell as the TH400 in the model "B". As you see, they even decided to use the tougher tranny on the B-models (the "weaker" TH350 was already available on Impalas etc.) as there were no speed limits in Germany when the cars were launched back in 1969.
I personally think you should look for a Borg Warner tranny coming off a Rover P5B or P6. As the V8s were originally equipped with your 3,5 litre, I'm pretty sure that these transmissions would be the best opportunity for your project. Additionally your problem in attaching the bellhousing would be obsolete then.

Cheers

Michael

Cheers Mike, i have been concerned about the strength of the opel autobox i have been lookining at high performance torque converters and talking to local engineers and specialist about doing something with the internals to cope with the extra power the only reason i am insistant on using the opel box is because i dint want to start chopping the transmission tunnel and relocating the shift, im looking into getting the bellhousing adapted. i have 2 manta b "later" autoboxes i suppose i could use one if its stronger, worsed case i'll see if i can fit a rover box with out chopping and relocating.

Hello erybody, i write from france, i own an opel rekord c coupé and i would like to lower it in a cheap way

Some of you say that manta b and ascona b springs can be used. Is there a specific model of manta b or ascona b spring to use?
Can the front and rear springs of manta can be used on the rekord c ( with an adjustable panhard bar)?

I am sure there are answers on this site but i dont speak deutch

Hello guys, thanks for your answers :D

For the rear springs, can i use any mercedes 123 model or is there a specific one?

For the front i understand that i need to use -40mm springs to have a lowering of 60mm ( because of the weight of th rekord c ), will i have the same problem with 123 springs for the rear axle?

The rear springs from a mercedes W123 have to be shortened, so they are no plug & play springs.
